Danette Siegel

Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer

Birth Doula | Childbirth Educator | Birth Advocate

From engineering to birth work, Danette brings her passion for education, community, and advocacy to Birth Haven as co-founder and Chief Operating Officer in Salem, New Hampshire.

Education, Advocacy, and a Deep Belief in Every Woman.

From a career in engineering to a calling in birth work, Danette's journey has been shaped by motherhood, transformation, and a deep belief in every woman's right to feel informed, respected, and supported.

As a co-founder of Birth Haven, she brings her passion for education, community, and birth advocacy to the vision of a place where women and families are truly at the center of their care.

Her Journey

When Becoming a Mother Changed Everything

"My journey into birth work began with the birth of my first daughter in 2017. After nearly two decades in engineering, becoming a mother completely transformed my path and awakened a passion I never knew existed.

My experiences bringing my two daughters into the world, along with my own journey through pregnancy, birth, loss, and postpartum, opened my eyes to just how powerful and transformative birth can be when a woman is truly supported, trusted, and empowered to follow her own inner knowing.

Today, I am an intuitive and holistic birth doula, childbirth educator, Body Ready Method® Pro, and fierce advocate for physiological birth and the midwifery model of care. My passion lies in helping women reconnect with their innate wisdom, trust their bodies, and remain in the driver's seat of their own birth experiences.

I believe birth is so much more than a medical event. It is a profound rite of passage with the power to transform us at our core. Every woman deserves to navigate that journey feeling informed, respected, supported, and sovereign in her choices."

Her Role at Birth Haven

Creating the Space for a Different Kind of Experience

At Birth Haven, Danette serves as Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer, helping bring the founders' shared vision into everyday reality.

Her work spans business operations, community relationships, education, outreach, and the many details that help create a welcoming experience for women and families.

Her background in engineering brings a different perspective to the founding team, while her work as a doula and childbirth educator keeps her deeply connected to the experiences and questions families bring into maternity care.

For Danette, building Birth Haven is about much more than opening a birth center. It is about helping create a community where women are heard, their choices matter, and education and support extend beyond birth.

Operations & Vision

Helping shape the operations and long-term direction of Birth Haven.

Education & Advocacy

Championing informed decisions, childbirth education, and women's autonomy.

Community & Connection

Helping strengthen relationships, educational opportunities, and support networks for families.

A Shared Vision

Why Birth Haven Matters to Me

"Co-founding Birth Haven has been an extension of my soul's mission: to help women empower themselves to transform their birth experiences and create a space where women and families are truly at the center of their care.

A place where autonomy, informed choice, and individualized, compassionate care aren't just ideals, but the foundation of everything we do."

"My mission is simple: to protect and expand birth choices, support women in reclaiming their power, and help build a community where families feel seen, heard, and deeply supported through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond."

Beyond Birth Haven

A Mother Is Born

Doula Support, Birth Education & Holistic Preparation

Alongside her leadership at Birth Haven, Danette supports women and families through her independent practice, A Mother Is Born.

As an intuitive and holistic birth doula, childbirth educator, and Body Ready Method® Pro, she offers personalized preparation and support for those navigating pregnancy, birth, and the transition into parenthood.

Her work focuses on helping women feel informed, connected to their bodies, supported in their choices, and prepared for the many ways birth may unfold.

Birth Doula Support

Personalized non-clinical support before, during, and around birth, with attention to emotional reassurance, physical comfort, education, and advocacy for informed decisions.

Prenatal Education & Childbirth Preparation

Private childbirth education and immersive preparation experiences designed to help women and their partners explore birth options, build practical skills, and approach birth with greater confidence.

Danette is currently taking private childbirth education clients. Group classes are planned but do not yet have confirmed dates.

Body Ready Method® Preparation

Body-focused preparation that explores movement, positioning, pelvic mechanics, and practical techniques to support comfort and informed preparation for birth.

Danette is a Body Ready Method® Pro. These sessions support preparation and comfort and do not promise specific outcomes.

Holistic & Energy Work

Danette also offers holistic sessions through A Mother Is Born for clients interested in complementary approaches such as energy work, mindfulness, and emotional preparation.

These are optional complementary wellness services, not clinical or medical treatment.

A Mother Is Born is Danette's independent practice. Doula services, private classes, and support programs are arranged directly with Danette and are separate from Birth Haven's clinical services.

Learning With Danette

Prepare for Birth in a Way That Feels Like You

Danette offers childbirth education experiences designed to make space for learning, conversation, practical preparation, and the emotional dimensions of birth.

Empowered Birth

Prepare Your Mind, Heart and Body

Empowered Birth is an immersive childbirth preparation experience designed for expectant women and their partners.

The workshop explores the physiology of birth, informed decision-making, communication, coping skills, hands-on preparation, and ways to navigate the unexpected.

Rather than offering a rigid script for how birth should unfold, the class encourages families to understand their choices, connect with one another, and prepare for their own experience.

Body Ready Birth

Movement, Body Awareness and Birth Preparation

Body Ready Birth focuses on practical physical preparation for labor and birth.

Participants explore pelvic mechanics, movement, birth positioning, and partner-supported techniques based on the Body Ready Method® approach.

The goal is to build body awareness and learn practical tools that can be adapted to individual needs and different birth experiences.

Private childbirth education is currently available through A Mother Is Born. Group class dates will be announced when scheduling is finalized.

Future group classes are expected to be hosted at the Birth Haven location, while remaining operated by A Mother Is Born.

Connection Beyond Birth

Finding Community in Motherhood

Danette also organizes in-person and virtual perinatal support groups through A Mother Is Born.

These gatherings are intended to create opportunities for connection, shared experiences, encouragement, and support during the transitions of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum life.

The groups have been temporarily paused during the opening of Birth Haven, with plans to resume once a new schedule is confirmed.
