A Planned Initiative
Birthing Midwives
A planned Birth Haven initiative to help develop and support future midwives through professional education and hands-on skills practice.
The Vision
Supporting the Next Generation of Midwives
Birth Haven's founders believe that preserving meaningful maternity care choices means investing in the people who will provide that care in the future. Birthing Midwives is the name they have given to a planned initiative focused on professional education, mentorship, and hands-on skills practice within the midwifery community.
The intention is to create a space where learning, growth, and connection can happen alongside experienced practitioners. This vision grows directly out of the founders' own commitment to a more connected, woman-centered model of care.
Co-founder Khadijah Cissé, who leads midwifery operations at Birth Haven, is part of the team shaping this education vision. Birthing Midwives is a planned initiative, not a currently available program. No courses, certifications, clinical placements, or enrollment opportunities have been launched yet.
What We Hope to Build
Learning, Mentorship, and Skills Practice
These are the areas the founders hope Birthing Midwives will eventually support. None of these are confirmed programs yet.
Professional Education
Opportunities for midwives to deepen knowledge and stay connected to current, thoughtful practice.
Mentorship
A relationship-based approach to supporting newer midwives as they grow in skill and confidence.
Hands-On Skills Practice
Practical skills development that complements clinical experience and ongoing learning.
Contact the team to discuss your interests and ask about the initiative as it develops.

Why This Matters
Growing From the Same Values as Birth Haven
Birthing Midwives grows out of the same beliefs that shape Birth Haven: that care should feel personal, that relationships matter, and that women deserve providers who are well-supported and continually learning.
The founders see professional education and mentorship as part of preserving maternity care choices for the long term, not just for the families they serve today.
